The future is in Micro Information

After teaching ChatGPT last week, I’m feeling extra techy and futuristic.

So let’s talk about the future of business, more specifically the future of information that our businesses sell, like courses, programs, workshops, consulting, and coaching.

All that Information?

We’re drowning in it.

We’re bombarded with data, news, social media, and endless streams of content.

As coaches, business owners, and educators, we have a responsibility to help our audiences navigate this sea of information.

There are so many voices vying for their attention, so many opinions and instructions.

We cannot be another drop in the tsunami.

Instead, we need to be the lifeboat through it.

The future, my fellow entrepreneurs, is in micro-information.

In other words, distilling and simplifying information is where we will excel moving forward.

I believe the shift of success is going to move from those that overdeliver in information to those that can minimize it to the core useable points.

So how do we do it?

Here are three actionable steps:

#1: Quick Wins– One of the best ways to support your audience is by giving them actionable content they can complete in 30 minutes or less. Instead of overwhelming them with a 47-page free guide or a 4-week free course, offer them a simple, quick win that they can achieve right away. By breaking down complex information into bite-sized pieces, you can help your audience feel more capable and motivated to take action.

#2: Ditch the Jargon – People aren’t asking to be “empowered and break through their limiting beliefs”. As a coach, you may know that’s what they need, but that’s your language – not theirs. Their struggle in their words? They are tired of being afraid to speak up and getting walked over. Look at your materials, posts, captions, and website- Where are you speaking “coach-ese, consult-ian and tech-y” instead of “busy person, fearful person, stressed person, person needing help”? Meet them where they’re at, and the first step is to speak their language. Use clear, concise language that your audience can easily understand and relate to.

#3: Go for Bare – Less is more. Your audience doesn’t need the full foundation and history of a topic in order to take action on something. They don’t need to fully understand lead magnets to follow step-by-step instructions to make one. Give them minimal viable details to take action. They don’t need everything at once. Gone are the days of the mega course, instead make 3 tiny ones, each focused on a small specific outcome. Give them small wins, and they’ll keep coming back for more.

By simplifying and distilling information, we can help our audience feel more confident and empowered to take action.

The more action they take, the more progress they make.

And the more progress they make, the more valuable our partnership with them is.
